2026 Home Sauna Price Report: What 125 Home Saunas Actually Cost

Sauna Handbook original market analysis • Prices checked September 20, 2026

The headline number: the median advertised price among 125 home sauna models in our September 2026 dataset was $6,590. Nearly three in four models—72.8%—were advertised at $5,000 or more.

That does not mean every buyer should expect to spend $6,590. The market stretches from compact infrared cabins under $2,000 to large premium outdoor rooms approaching $25,000. But it does show why a single broad “home sauna cost” range can hide more than it explains.

We recorded current advertised prices for 125 home sauna models marketed to U.S. residential buyers, then compared price by sauna type, advertised capacity and indoor/outdoor placement. For a smaller verified set of traditional sauna kits where the sauna room is sold separately from the heater, we also checked the minimum required heater package and stated freight so buyers can see how the room price can differ from the equipment price needed to make the sauna operational.

2026 Home Sauna Price Report — headline findings from 125 models.

Key findings

  • Median advertised price: $6,590. The average was $7,147, while the middle 50% of models fell between $4,999 and $8,499.
  • 72.8% of the models were advertised at $5,000 or more. Only 4.8% were below $3,000.
  • Infrared models had a $6,049.50 median, compared with $6,936 for traditional and $7,709.50 for hybrid models.
  • Outdoor models had a $7,483.50 median versus $6,175.50 for indoor models in rows clearly classified as indoor or outdoor.
  • Advertised capacity mattered: the median was $4,999 for both one-person and two-person groups, $6,999 for three-to-four-person models, and $9,615.50 for five-plus-person models.
  • In a 14-model verified traditional-kit audit, the lowest required heater package and stated freight added a median $1,317, or 16.2%, over the advertised sauna-room price. This subset is illustrative, not representative of all 125 saunas.

How much does a home sauna cost in 2026?

In this dataset, the median advertised home sauna price was $6,590. The lowest model we recorded was $1,499 and the highest was $24,990. The 25th percentile was $4,999 and the 75th percentile was $8,499, which means half of the market sample sat inside that roughly $3,500-wide band.

The distribution is more useful than a single average. Thirty-four models, or 27.2%, were advertised below $5,000. Forty-four models fell between $5,000 and $7,499, 32 fell between $7,500 and $9,999, and 15 were $10,000 or more.

Infrared vs. traditional vs. hybrid pricing

Figure 2. Median advertised price by sauna type.

The 50 infrared models in our sample had a median advertised price of $6,049.50. The 63 traditional models had a $6,936 median—about 14.7% higher. The 12 hybrid models had the highest median at $7,709.50.

These figures describe the products in our dataset; they should not be read as a claim that one heating technology inherently costs a fixed percentage more than another. Brand mix, size, construction, indoor/outdoor design and included equipment all affect price.

How sauna size affects price

Figure 3. Median advertised price by advertised sauna capacity.

The strongest pricing pattern in the dataset was capacity. One-person and two-person models both landed at a $4,999 median. The three-to-four-person group rose to $6,999—a 40.0% increase from the two-person median. Five-plus-person models reached $9,615.50, another 37.4% increase.

See our Best 2-Person Saunas for 2026 guide for two-person options.

Capacity labels are manufacturer marketing categories rather than standardized measurements of comfortable seating. A nominal four-person sauna may feel very different from another four-person model, so shoppers should still compare interior dimensions and bench layout.

Indoor vs. outdoor sauna prices

Figure 4. Median advertised price for clearly classified indoor and outdoor models.

Among the 116 models clearly classified as either indoor or outdoor, indoor saunas had a median advertised price of $6,175.50 and outdoor saunas had a $7,483.50 median. That is about a 21.2% difference in this sample.

Outdoor models often include weather-resistant shells, roofing or heavier structures, but this dataset alone cannot isolate how much of the price difference is caused by weatherproofing versus differences in brand, size or sauna type.

The advertised room price may not be the operational equipment price

This is the distinction buyers should watch most carefully with traditional sauna kits. Some products are sold as the sauna room or structure, with a heater package selected separately. Depending on the heater, that package may include the heater, controls and stones.

We verified 14 traditional kits from SaunaLife, Dundalk Leisurecraft and True North where a required heater choice and shipping information were publicly visible. To keep the comparison conservative, we used the lowest-priced listed heater package capable of completing the product configuration and added stated freight where applicable.

Across those 14 models, required heater and stated freight added a median $1,317, equivalent to 16.2% over the advertised sauna-room price. The mean percentage increase was 21.1%, driven upward by lower-priced SaunaLife rooms that also carried $950 freight in the pages we verified.

This 14-model audit should not be generalized to the entire 125-model market. It is a focused demonstration of why buyers should check exactly what is included before comparing two traditional sauna prices.

What is not included in these numbers

The main 125-model analysis uses advertised product prices. It does not attempt to estimate site-specific electrical labor, foundations, permits, crane or forklift service, custom delivery surcharges, assembly labor, landscaping or other project work. Those costs vary too much by property and jurisdiction to fold into a defensible national product-price statistic.

Likewise, the traditional-kit audit counts only the required equipment and stated freight we could verify from the product pages used for the audit. Optional accessories, premium heater upgrades and site work are excluded.

Methodology

Sauna Handbook collected 125 currently marketed home sauna models and recorded the advertised selling price visible during the research period, with prices checked on September 20, 2026. The dataset includes infrared, traditional and hybrid models from multiple brands and retailers serving U.S. residential buyers.

Each distinct model/configuration was counted once; simple color variants were not intentionally treated as separate models. We used the current selling price rather than crossed-out MSRP where a sale price was shown. Missing information was left blank rather than inferred.

The dataset contains 63 traditional, 50 infrared and 12 hybrid models. Location classification includes 82 indoor, 34 outdoor, two indoor/outdoor and seven rows without a reliable location label. Capacity statistics use the highest advertised number in a capacity range—for example, a “2–4 person” model is grouped with three-to-four-person models.

Prices change. This report is a market snapshot, not a permanent price list. We recommend readers verify current price, availability, shipping and required components before purchasing.

What shoppers should take from the data

A realistic starting assumption for the product itself is not the same thing as a project budget. In our sample, $6,590 was the middle advertised price, and larger and outdoor models generally sat higher. Traditional kits also require especially careful comparison because a lower room price may omit the heater package needed for operation.

The most useful comparison is therefore not simply “Sauna A costs $5,000 and Sauna B costs $6,000.” It is: What size is each sauna? Is it indoor or outdoor? Is the heater included? Are controls and stones included? What freight applies? And what electrical or site work remains after the equipment arrives?
